What is consumer Protection Act

Consumer Protection Act is an act to safeguarding buyers of goods and services, and the public, against unfair practices in the marketplace. A Consumer Complain can be filed on the following basis.
1) When a seller selling a product or service provides wrong information about service or product.
2) When a seller selling a product or service at higher price than actual price of product.

Rules of filing consumer complain:
1) Consumer Act can be written on a piece of paper with address of consumer.
2) Name, description of complain and opposing parties.

According to the Consumer Protection Act, Consumer Complain can be filed within two years of buying the product. If cost of product is less than 20 lakhs then complain should be filed in District Zilla Forum. If cost of product is more than 20 lakhs than complain should be filed in National Comission.

A complain can be filed at Zilla, state or National Forum. Case takes 3 to 5 months to conclude but there are many cases pemnding which usually takes 1 to 3 years to conclude.
